Slick Rick, O.J, Flea unit.

9 10 2008

That’s Slick Rick at the VH1 Hip hop honors.

You know I hate 50 Cent but you might be interested in hearing his new track, its the usual fare. You know what I mean, boring flow, boring voice, medicore beats, usual subject etc:

O.J Probably did do it the first time.

I haven’t actually seen this on the internet a whole lot but 61 year old O.J Simpson has just been sentenced to life in prison on 12 counts of robbery, weapons and kidnapping-related charges. Karma?

More info…

Feelin lazy

27 09 2008

Feeling a bit lazy today, I wanna do another lyrical appreciation write up soon but for now just some interesting stuff… all the news at the moment is about 50 cent and Kayne and I really need a break from them.

The Wu Tang shoe

Wanna get your hands on a pair of these seemingly average Wu Tang kicks? Well think again, they are next to impossible to find and apparently there is a store in NY selling them for 7,500 US. That is alot of cash, you could probably buy one of their album plaques for the same price.

Apparently Detox is going to drop around December with a first single release possibly next month, as the album being delayed for like four years I find this kinda hard to believe. I think until I hear an official release date I won’t say a thing. Also do you think Dr Dre can stay relevant in modern hip hop?  Everyone knows the rap game is constantly changing and if pop rappers like Nelly can’t stay on track do you think Dre can still go platinum and be taken seriously after a seven year hiatus since his last Chronic album? I don’t know personally. He’s also using live instrumentation on the album, same as Rza’s production style.

Anyway here is some classic 1992 Dre:

Michael Jordan recently spoke honestly about the comparisons between him and Kobe,  Jordan said that in his prime that there would be absolutely no competition. You know what? I agree 100%, Jordan is the greatest alive no doubt, he is a legend and even as a product the Jordan brand is still going strong. I remember when I saw Space Jam as a kid, it was my favourite movie ever and MJ was my hero.  One of the greatest, if not the greatest sports star of all time.

Watch the video, its from this year and you can see even at the age of 45 he can consistently shoot and even dunk. Cool to see him teaching some kids as well.

And that’s it for now.

fuck 50

15 09 2008

He mocks the new Kayne track when performing to his largely asleep white 14 year old girl crowd. I think he is still mad about getting outsold. (source=nah right) Maybe try making non-boring music before you speak or act self-righteously.

This is a real concert ok (notice the audience getting live as hell and singing every word) :

That is all for now.

DJ AM scratching with Travis Barker

8 09 2008

Seems like all I’m doing is posting clips at the moment, this is a dope video with Dj AM scratching over beats and travis barker jamming along. Check it out:

Dj AM ft Travis Barker

50 cent is claiming he is going to reinvent hiphop on his latest album “Before I self destruct”, hey 50 do you mean reinvent like when you and Kayne faced off for album sales and that is the reason he bet you? The same reason Terminate on Sight didn’t sell alot of records also. I’ll have to wait and see before I believe all this talk personally, plus he hasn’t put anything out that interests me in…………. forever?

50 Talks new album

Lil Wayne tore it up at the VMA’s last night (except when T-Pain came out and was half heartedly lip syncing ‘got money’, dudes a good songwriter but he looked rubbish live). Now apparently Weezy is in trouble after police released him on 70,000 bail a few months ago after finding a concealed weapon and drugs on his tour bus.

Speaking of T-Pain…..

Can\’t believe it remix

It’s a mess…..

29 08 2008

This week:

Firstly RIP to Dr Dre’s son who was found dead over the weekend..

In other news here is a photo of dmx meditating to prevent himself doing further crimes.

Recently Dmx was let out on bail after saying “I’m not fucking going back to jail” to a judge after the judge initially decided against him being let out. He’s also got a warrant out in Arizona and if they catch him within 15 days he’s got a whole other set of problems on his hands. If he lays low for 15 days he’s home free (good luck pal).

what a mess…

Finally for some actual good news: GZA had his latest album debut in the billboard charts at 52, almost a decade since his last album to reach the charts “Beneath the Surface” in 1999.

In other news I really dislike Soulja boy:

I read this quote at and it made me physically angry.

“The young rapper went on to detail his frustration at being called out by numerous veteran artists such as legend Ice-T, and how his “old school” influence was listening to 50 Cent’s early records when he was 11 years old.” OLD SCHOOL, what?

What a mess hiphop is sometimes..

Gza comments on G-Unit beef

25 08 2008

I don’t know exactly how old this quote is but I could imagine Tony Yayo scoffing at it without even questioning why he can’t carry an album on his own. GZA speaks the truth, read on:

The first single from the album “Paper Plate” was released on July 18 and has been circulated widely over the internet. The single continues the feud between 50 Cent and him. GZA, during a performance in Queens, had this to say about 50 cent: “a Nigga don’t got fuckin lyrics”. In response to a question about “Paper Plate”, he said:

“You know what “Paper Plate” is about? [A paper plate is] just something that is lightweight and disposable. You can recycle it and get rid of it after you’re done with it. It’s just a statement that I wanted to get out, saying that “I’m lyrical and I’m not material.” I’m a sum of a beautiful equation and sometimes these dudes need to just realize and respect the tradition of an emcee. I’ve been working in this game for a while to try and focus on the lyrical aspect of all this. It’s saying 50 Cent and G Unit could never write like me and I’m coming at it focusing on shelf life. I’m not trying to clown all the younger rappers, but just saying that there is so many things to be inspired by, so I don’t understand why people are still rhyming about the same thing. I’m trying to move forward a tradition, and you can see that when I’m going on a Liquid Swords tour 10 years after it came out. Wu-Tang has two or three generations of fans so we must be relevant. And what does it matter that they callin me grandpa? Cuz I fathered your style? ”
